At the start of 2010 the Thomas Arms in Llanelli were set a challenge by Brains to help raise funds for Lung Cancer. Land lady Christine Langley Evans tells us all about it.

"The challenge was to raise £10,000, which at the time seemed impossible Over the course of the year we managed to raise 10,928.70 for the cause which was for the ex Welsh captains to climb Kilimonjaro. During the time we held 2 dinners, one with Scott Quinnell attending as he was our nominated captain.

All the food of course was bought from Castell Howell and the quality of the food was evident on the nights we held. We had tremendous praise from those who attended about our menus and the food they ate.

Lung Cancer is Wales silent killer and by 2015 30% more people in Wales will have the disease and its affecting not only smokers but non smokers also, we were only glad to help The Stepping Stones appeal raise this money for research to continue into such a worthy cause."

When asked about her experience in dealing with Castell Howell, this is what Christine had to say;

" The Celtic Pride Welsh beef is excellent, especially for our Sunday lunches.

Castell Howell are quick to respond to any problems. We have a good telesales representative looking after us, Mandy, who is excellent,"

When asked to describe Castell Howell in 3 words, Christine said;

"Reliable efficient professional".
