Brains is proud to have launched the Grape & Olive in Swansea, situated at the top of the Meridian Tower, 28 floors above the city. Taken from a proven template, the Grape & Olive in Cardiff, Brains' newest bar is already proving a huge success with the people of Swansea.

The Meridian Tower is Wales’ tallest building, making the Grape and Olive Wales’ highest bar. Since taking on the project Brains has invested more than half a million pounds, transforming it into the impressive venue that it now is.

The Grape and Olive can cater for 200 drinkers and diners on the 28th floor, with seating for an additional 60 people on the 29th floor. Below on the 27th floor is a function room that can cater for up to 90 people.

We spoke to managers, Andrew & Ian, who had been brought in to run the Grape & Olive from The Maltsters, another successful Brains pub in Cardiff.

"The response since we opened has been overwhelming" they told us, "we are fully booked every Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday night until the New Year".

The venue offers panoramic views across Swansea & Mumbles, with each table positioned and designed specifically to make the most of the scenery. Attention to detail has been paid, with nothing overlooked.

"We have worked hard to ensure that every element of our guest's experience is taken care of. For example, our dishwasher washer the glasses as normal then moves onto a cooling setting. The glasses are then transferred to a glass freezer, meaning that you will never be served your drink in a warm glass. We believe that details like these really matter"

Head Chef, Paul Cassar told us "The kitchen is on the floor below the restaurant & all of the food is transported up to the finishing kitchen via a heated dumb waiter. We keep in touch via radio headsets to ensure that things run smoothly."

"The customer feedback so far has been excellent. People have been really pleased with the food, especially the Celtic Pride steaks. Castell Howell have been a huge help in setting up and opening the Grape & Olive. We have been busier than anyone could have anticipated and they have been very supportive in getting all of the extra orders to us."

"We buy all of our food from Castell Howell & love their quality Welsh brands such as Mario's ice cream, Tucker's Fresh Fish & of course, Celtic Pride".

Jill Matthews, Head of Catering at Brains added: "The Grape & Olive at Meridian Tower has been one of the most exciting and challenging projects that my team and I have been involved in to date. Our customers seem to really appreciate the menu for being both creative and affordable, putting interesting Mediterranean and Welsh delicacies on the plate. Castell Howell have done a great job in sourcing innovative ingredients and products of the highest quality from a wide range of suppliers."

The team at the Grape & Olive invite you to come and marvel at the views for yourself. They are open 7 days a week from 12 noon until 11pm for restaurant meals, bar snacks & drinks.
